Jefferson County Community Ministries is currently seeking to hire Assistant Shelter Managers for our overnight cold weather shelter. The shelter is open from November 1, 2021 through April 2, 2022. Staying overnight in 12 hour shifts is mandatory.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide transportation to the shelter
- Communicate with and train volunteers
- Complete intake of guests
- Monitor and assist guests
- Ensure there are sufficient supplies
- Supervise sanitation of facilities
- Follow and enforce Covid procedures and protocols
- Maintain shelter records
- Create and share shelter reports
- Communicate/Collaborate with other JCCM employees to include the shelter manager, case managers, doctor, nurses
Job Requirements:
- Education – high school diploma or equivalent
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to solve problems, make decisions, resolve/de-escalate conflicts, listen
- Compassion
- Ability to set limits with kindness
- Ability to work on a computer database to input client information and reports
- Experience working with marginalized populations
- Experience working in a shelter setting
- Strong organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Position Details:
- We are hiring 2 full time employees and 2 part time/on-call employees
- Salary: $11-$12 per hour
- Night shift needed – hours typically 6:30pm-7am
- Covid Consideration: Masks will be required. We have a plan in place to help ensure the health and safety of staff, volunteers, and guests including use of PPE, screening, isolation, testing, and education.
