When the children of Israel were wandering in the desert, hungry and uncertain about where to find food, the Lord provided nourishment in a most unusual way. He caused “a fine, flake-like thing” to appear on the ground like frost each morning, and “when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is Manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the Lord hath given you to eat” (Exodus 16:14-15).
Last week JCCM put out an urgent request for Food Pantry donations. The response from the community has been heartening. It’s as if the Lord has again provided manna from heaven.
Thankfully our shelves are filling with much needed foodstuffs provided by Engle UMC, Bolivar UMC, Chestnut Hill UMC, Fellowship Bible Church, the Boy Scouts, the Cub Scouts, (Scouting donated over 6,000 lbs. of food) and many, many individuals. We also want to thank Wayne Clark of Locust Hills Country Club for sponsoring the 15th annual turkey shoot which supplied 132 Thanksgiving turkeys for our clients.
Our Jefferson County community members continue to provide the manna needed to feed the hungry in our area. Please continue your generous contributions! They are greatly appreciated.
